How to Clean Your Multi-Use Electric Pressure Cooker

The multi-use electric pressure cooker also known as a "magic pot" is one of the most loved and preferred tools in every kitchen today. These magic pots truly have some magic in them. From steaming the perfect portion of rice to making yogurt, the multi-use electric pressure cooker is just an ideal one for all. You may also slow cook your lip-smacking buffalo chicken dip or keep the food warm throughout the day in the magic pot. But, one of the things where its magic doesn’t apply is cleaning. The multi-use electric pressure cooker cannot clean itself magically. So if you love to use this wonderful kitchen tool, you must learn how to clean your multi-use electric pressure cooker. Here are some of the tips that you may follow to ensure proper cleaning of all parts of your appliance, comprising the pressure cooker sealing rings and inserts.

Multi-use electric pressure cooker cleaning can be tough.

How to Clean Your Multi-Use Electric Pressure Cooker Regularly

Are you confused about how to clean your multi-use electric pressure cooker? For cleaning multi-use electric pressure cooker regularly, you must follow some of the simple steps. You would require mild dishwashing liquid, small scrub brush or old toothbrush, warm water, microfiber sponge as well as cloths and distilled white vinegar in a spray bottle.

What you need to do first is unplug the electric pressure cooker. If there are any inserts, you must remove them, including the inner pot. With the help of the toothbrush or the scrub brush, get rid of the food that has dried and badly stuck in the nook and crannies and on the outer area of the pressure cooker. Spray vinegar on a microfiber cloth and wipe the outer casing of the magic pot. You must use a dry microfiber cloth to buff out any streaks, lines or splashes.

The vinegar is a multipurpose cleaner.

Next, mix warm water along with dish soap in your kitchen sink and hand wash the magic pot with a microfiber sponge. It is similar to doing up your dishes. It is important to clean the inner pot, inserts, and lid of the multi-use electric pressure cooker thoroughly. Avoid any lines or streaks to appear on your cleaned magic pot by buffing all parts of the electric pressure cooker with a microfiber cloth.

How to Clean Your Multi-Use Electric Pressure Cooker Occasionally

If you are thinking how to clean your multi-use pressure cooker occasionally keep a count on how often do you use the magic pot to steam or cook pungent and sticky food. The occasional cleaning has to be a deep cleaning so, in addition to the above cleaning procedure, you will also need warm water, mild dishwashing liquid, microfiber cloths, a shallow pan, and distilled white vinegar.

Wipe and clean the surfaces with the microfiber cloths.

Firstly, drop a few drops of dishwashing liquid to the warm water and fill your sink. You must remove the float valve carefully and use your hand to wash it in the soapy liquid. Dry the valve thoroughly and ensure there are no traces of liquid before replacing it using a dry microfiber cloth. Ensuring if the float valve is moving up and down smoothly after replacing it is also important. Under the electric pressure cooker’s lid, you can find an anti-block shield. You must remove it before cleaning but the steam valve need not be removed. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe down the steam valve and the anti-block shield must be separately removed, wiped, and then, replaced.

Next, comes the cleaning of the sealing ring in the pressure cooker. You must remove the sealing ring to examine it properly. Carefully check it to ensure there are no cracks in it and see if it fits tightly. If it is loose or seems to be damaged, get a new one immediately. Take a shallow pan and pour distilled vinegar in it. It must be deep enough to immerse the electric pressure cooker sealing ring in the vinegar for 5 minutes and let it sit. Remove the ring and then wash in a soapy water solution. Thoroughly dry the ring and then replace it. Do not forget to check if it fits in tightly.

You must have noticed that cleaning a pressure cooker is quite simple. When you think of how to clean the multi-use electric pressure cooker, you must try vinegar. But, anyone with stone kitchen countertops must avoid cleaning the cooker in the same room. Vinegar, being acidic in nature can cause damage to the stone.
