7-Minute Daily Cleaning Routine to Keep Your Home Clean for Longer

The best way to ensure that your house stays clean every day is to ensure that you create a schedule of what you need to clean every day. Take into account the number of non-disabled people in your home and assign them small cleaning tasks they will undertake every other day. That said here is a 7-minute daily cleaning routine to keep your home clean for longer, that will fit your daily schedule.

Make Your Bed Every day

This is fast and easy and should be the first task you undertake when you wake up in the morning. You will be amazed at how the room starts to look neater, and how motivated you will become to undertake at least one more cleaning task around your home. More so, having a made bed has a positive impact on your attitude, and it will get your day started on a good footing. Unless you are making multiple beds, this is necessary activity in your 7-minute daily cleaning routine, and it will make you happier.

Do Your Dishes after Every Meal

The kitchen is the most used part of the home, and piling dishes makes it look dirtier and messier. So, ensure that you get into the habit of doing the dishes after every meal. The problem is that few people like doing dishes, but with dedication, you can do it in 7 minutes or less. This is possible if you have a dishwasher or not, you will save time when you are preparing the next meal. Remember to wipe down your countertops as well.

Clean High Traffic Areas

Identify the high traffic areas in your home and clean them regularly. This will avoid the spread of dust and dirt to the rest of the house. Have a dedicated spot for shoes by the door and ensure every one removes their shoes to concentrate the dirt and dust in one place. Having small mats and rugs at the door will help in trapping the dust and dirt. Incorporate this into your 7-minute daily cleaning routine and make it simple by vacuuming the rooms closest to the entrance of the home to avoid the spreading of accumulating dust and dirt.

Create a Daily Cleaning Schedule

It is easy to feel overwhelmed when you have not cleaned your house for a long time. However, you can take charge by focusing on one area of your home to clean then create a list of the things that will have to be cleaned every single day. Here is a sample 7-minute daily cleaning routine for an entire week.

  • Monday – Dust your TV, nightstands, bookshelves, furniture, dressers, windowsills, and tables
  • Tuesday – Sweep your wooden floors, mop your kitchen and bathroom floors, and vacuum the carpets, mats, and rugs
  • Wednesday – Scrub the bathroom sink, wipe down the counters, wipe off any spots on the mirror clean the shower walls and the tub, then finish off with the toilet
  • Thursday – Since you are already doing the dishes after every meal and you mopped the floor on Tuesday, focus on the areas that need more attention. This includes scrubbing the stove top, thorough cleaning of the sink, wipe the insides of the fridge and microwave before doing the outside and sweep the floor
  • Friday – Go through the house and put away any clutter that may have accumulated throughout the week in its rightful place
  • Saturday – change your towels, flip the mattress, change the bed sheets, then do the laundry. If you have a washer and dryer, sort the items according to color and do your laundry. If you are going to a laundromat, sort the laundry in colors for faster loading. Ensure that you fold the laundry at the laundromat to ensure that you pack them right away after getting home
  • Sunday – You can take a day off from cleaning and do something fun in your clean house

You can also create a monthly schedule for the harder to clean areas like your oven slipcovers, and others.
