How to Remove Candle Wax from Different Surfaces

After a hard day at work when you enter your home, the only thing that comes to mind is relaxation. One of the best ways to relax your body and mind is to light candles. The scented candle soothes your nerves and creates a tranquil atmosphere at your home. Although the cozy glow of the candle helps you to restore the inner peace, the drips of wax on the furniture or flooring can be a reason for concern. When the wax starts attracting dust and pet hair, it looks nastier and becomes difficult to remove. Here are a few ways in which you may remove candle wax from different surfaces.

Remove Candle Wax from Wooden Surfaces

How to remove wax from the wooden surface table tops without scratching its finish? On the wax area, place a plastic bag filled with ice. This process makes the ice brittle so, let the ice bag leave on for a minute or two. Do remember that if you keep it longer than 2 minutes, there can be water stains on your wooden table top. Now, take a plastic putty knife or an expired credit card to remove the wax from the wood. Ensure to wipe it off with a clean microfiber cloth. If the wax has melted within the engraving and grooves on the wood, you need to use a hair dryer to melt the wax at the beginning. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe away the softened wax. You may repeat the process if required.

Remove Candle Wax from Glass Surfaces

Whether a glass table top or a glass top cabinet or shelve, the wax drips can turn you off completely. Clean the softened wax by wiping it with a microfiber cloth and keep repeating until you have removed the complete wax. If still any streaks of residue are left, you may use window cleaner to clean and use a fresh cloth to wipe it away.

Remove Candle Wax from Stone Surfaces

The hair dryer doesn’t work for removing wax on stone surfaces. The stone is heat resistant but the sealants on the granite countertops or marble are not. So, placing an ice-filled plastic bag on the wax spilled area can effectively remove candle wax from different surfaces of the stone. Leave the ice plastic bag for 2 minutes and as the wax hardens, take a butter knife to slide its edges under the wax. Once the wax is completely removed, make a solution of warm water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Take a microfiber cloth to dampen it in the soapy liquid to remove the remaining wax residue. When the wax spills on the carpet surface, you need to scrape off the extra wax. Take a clean and dust-free cloth, dampen it with water, and lay it over the wax. Then, apply medium heat with an iron. Or you may also freeze the wax with an ice pack and then use a blunt object like some kitchen utensil to break the solid clump. Before the broken waxed ice pieces soften, vacuum it up.
